AAP (Aam Aadmi Party) today welcomed the BJP leader Navjot Singh Sidhu, who made a decision to quit the Rajya Sabha and opened its doors to the cricketer-turned-politician into their ranks, signaling the inevitable churning ahead of next next year Assembly polls in Punjab.
A few minutes after the resignation of Sidhu, AAP’s Punjab convenor Sucha Singh Chhotepur and AAP state in-charge Sanjay Singh welcomed the “bold” decision and said that the party was “looking forward” to meet him.
AAP representative Deepak Bajpai said Sidhu will be make an “announcement” in the near future, adding that the party is open to joining of people who believe in honest politics
Sidhu, a former Lok Sabha MP from Amritsar, was convicted for the culpable homicide case in Patiala and is released on bail.
Sidhu decision came one day AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal touring Punjab as part of an intense push the party to capture power in the northern state, defeating incumbent SAD-BJP alliance and the Congress in a triangular contest.
