Heroes are something we adore. They motivate us and astound us with their achievements. Movies are no longer devoid of heroes, particularly super-heroes. Other films, though, provide stronger instances of heroes. They are loosely or directly based on historical occurrences.
Gladiator, The Patriot, Braveheart, Gettysburg, and 300 are among these films. Every one of these films is about regular individuals who achieve exceptional results. Each film has a hero or heroes who battle huge obstacles while sacrificing a lot along the way, including their home, family, and riches.
These heroes inspire me not because they have the same beliefs as me (I don’t worship pagan gods, for example), but because they exemplify ideas and qualities that I, and many others, strive for. Strength, honor, bravery, courage, integrity, honesty, loyalty, family, friendship, sacrifice, and persistence are among these qualities.
That is the mark of a great hero. Someone who possesses the characteristics and attributes that you strive to possess. Because of what they give up or lose in order to embody those attributes, true heroes are almost always sad in some way. That is what drew us to them in the first place.
Heroes have a similar trait: they live for others, make sacrifices for others, and prioritize the needs of others over their own. They do not do it because they place a lower value on themselves than others. It’s not about having a martyr mentality or anything like that. It’s about acknowledging that they are capable of doing what is required, even if no one else is.
