The opening ceremony of Olympic rio games 2016 was held at the stadium Maracana on 5th August 2016. This is the first time since 1900 that the opening ceremony of the Summer Olympic Games held in a different location than the athletics stadium. In accordance with the requirements of the Olympic Charter, the production of combine formal opening of this international sporting event (including greetings, hoisting flags and a parade of athletes) with the artistic performance to show the nation the host country’s culture. There were about 78,000 spectators at the Maracana.
