Assembly Elections around the corner in the Punjab. During the period of submission of applications down to get over, political parties have released the names of their candidates. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD), which leads to an alliance with the BJP poll supported the pact, as agreed during the elections in 2012. The party contesting the 94 seats while its ally the BJP will contest 23.

The ruling party in Punjab Shiromani Akali Dal has announced its list of 87 candidates, and the party is expected to announce a new list of 7 candidates. SAD announced its first list of 17 November 2016, 69 candidates and 26 November 2016, the party announced its second list of 9 candidates. Third in the list was released on December 4, 2016 and was named the 4 titles. The fourth list was released on December 23, 2016 and contains 3 titles.
